Check out the Official STFU, Conservatives Reading List!
Between posts like this and stories like this, I wanted to make a list of all the books people mention as being good reading for progressives. I’m adding all the books banned from the Mexican American Studies Program by Arizona, all the feminist texts written by women of color, and eventually all banned books and a general list of cool books by/about/for liberals.
Plus since it’s through Amazon I get a cut (like 4% lol) of any sales, so. I’ll post more about it when I’ve added more books and maybe some other products (Santorum nail polish, for instance). But yeah — bookmark and check it out to see what you should be reading!

I’ve added a lot more books and categories, including pro-choice reading and some classic banned books. There’s also a category of mine and Joe’s favorite political books. I’ll keep updating it with more stuff. If you have any suggestions for books or categories, feel free to send them my way! -Jess
The cartoonist also seems to forget that, whatever Catholic organizations claim to believe, over 90% of Catholic individuals use some form of birth control.Oh that.

inside-illusion asked: When a anti-choicer uses the “It may not be alive yet but you are destroying potential life” argument. What would you say against that?
That having a period or jerking off also destroys “potential” life. The fact that you are not having sex at this minute is technically obstructing potential life. An egg is not a “potential chicken,” it’s an egg. An acorn is not a “potential tree,” it’s an acorn. It has the potential, but it needs the right circumstances to become something else. A willing uterus is one of those circumstances that “potential life” needs to flourish.

blood-junky asked: “How girls blame pregnancies on men and say a man ‘got them pregnant’. How is this fair; If a man DOESN’T WANT the kid, but the woman does, he has to pay child support. if a man WANTS to keep the kid, but the woman doesn’t, his child’s life is extinguished. Can i get a like for Men’s Rights?” A friend on FB posted this; it rubbed me the wrong way. What are your thoughts?
It reminds me of a great quote from this CNN article:
“Yes, individuals can be made to pay money to support their children, even when those children are unwanted. But as a matter of common sense, the mandating of financial payments, however burdensome, does not rise to the level of imposition upon bodily integrity implicated by pregnancy.”
Sorry bros, but you can’t force someone to be pregnant. Or not be pregnant any more. How is it fair that men can impregnate a woman and then leave them to raise the child alone? How is it fair that so many men don’t pay child support? How is it fair that women (and all people with uteruses) have to undergo pregnancy but people with testicles don’t? Nothing about the child-making process is “fair.”
The best way to avoid either A) paying for a kid you don’t want or B) having a harlot “extinguish your child’s life” is to discuss it with the woman you are fucking beforehand. But if she changes her mind and decides to keep/not keep the pregnancy, it’s her decision, because it’s her body and no one else’s.

Fox & Friends, how long should I cook pasta for it to be al dente?
We like to pour the pasta into boiling water, say 50 Our Fathers and 10 Hail Marys, and then throw a bunch of it at the wall and see what sticks. We call it the “Republican congress approach.”

Fox, why is it that my husband spent twelve years in public school and yet he still can't spell to save his life?
Did you answer your own question there? If his parents weren’t rich enough to send him to private school or smart enough to move to an area with charter schools, they shouldn’t have had kids.

Dear Fox & Friends,
Why is you blog template mostly white and red? It looks Canadian.
You know, we don’t really do the Web stuff over here at Fox & Friends. We have a stable of unpaid interns who take of technical questions. But as we all know, red is the color of America and Freedom and the Blood that Waters the Tree of Liberty, therefore it is in no way Canadian. It’s not our fault Canada ripped off our flag colors and put a pot leaf on it.

Does the Tea Party have a unifying goal?
Yes!!! Thank you for asking!!! The Tea Party wishes to unify America under the same slogan as the protesters in the Boston Tea Party: No Taxation Without Representation.
You might be saying, “But we have representation! We have a government with a representative democracy!” Look, we’re just taking the Boston Tea Party’s message a step further: No Taxation. We’ve never personally benefited from paying taxes, therefore no one should be allowed to.
We just want to live like all the other successful tax-free Libertarian societies in the world, like in… uh… we have to take a break now. When we come back: why sneeze guards on salad bars are enforcing the nanny state!

I went to Denmark, and I tried to speak what little Danish I knew, but they all laughed and just told me to speak English. :(
